DISCURSO DE PASQUAL MARAGALL. 13.6.85 Autoridades, queridos amigos, amics, Vamos a dar comienzo a la sesión de celebración de la Jornada Olímp ica 1985, que va a contar este año con la no necesita persona que presencia de Joao Havelange, muy brevemente, presentación pero que sin embargo quiero, presentar. El presidente de la IFA, Jean Marie Havelange, nació en Rio de Janeiro; pasó parte de su infancia en Bélgica, de donde procede su familia; es abogado de profesión; casado; hombre que habla portugués, español, inglés y que llegó al deporte a través de la natación , su gran pasión, hasta el punto de que sigue dedicándole gran parte de su tiempo. Coopresidente de la Confederación Brasileña de Deportes y de diversas empresas, todas ellas con sede en Sao Paulo, ciudad como saben algunos de Uds., ciudad hermana de la ciudad de Barcelona. Fue olímpico en Berlín en 1936, como integrante del equipo de natación de su pais. Fue tambien olimpico en el 52 en Helsinky, pero esta vez como jugador de waterpolo, y después en Sidney estuvo al frente de la Delegación Brasileña que concurrió aquellos juegos. Comenzó como editor de p ortivo en el año 1937 al ser nombrado en Rio de director de waterpolo y el Club de Regatas Janeiro, llegando a la presidencia de la Confederación Brasileña de Deportes el 14 de enero del 58, para ser nombrado en el 63 miembro del Comité Olímpico Internacional, del que es por lo tanto uno de sus miembros decanos. Y es miembro en Sudamérica y representante en este continente de la Unión Ciclista Internacional. Tiene además otros cargos deportivos con los cuales no les voy a cansar porque no acabariamos núnca. Es miembro de honor de la Academia de Deportes de Francia y otras muchas, y esta en posesión de Caballero de los Deportes de Portugal, Caballero de la Orden de Base, Comendador de Enrique de Portugal, etc, etc, etc, Estamos delante de una persona que representa, creo que mejor que nadie, las múltiples facetas del deporte internacional. Que lo ha practicado, que lo conoce, que lo vive, que lo estima, que vive por y para el deporte; vamos a darle con la palabra la mejor bienvenida a nuestro amigo Jean M. Havelange. Havelange está ya escrito) Querido amigo Havelange,quiero agradecer en nombre de la ciudad de Barcelona y en nombre de Cataluña entera y en nombre de España y muy particularmente del deporte español, tan dignamente representado aquí por Presidentes de Federaciones olímpicas, la presencia de Ud. y de sus colegas del Comité Olímpico Internacional, por lo que tiene esto de significativo en un momento en que tantas cosas estan por decidir. Sus palabras valen más que cualquiera de las que yo pueda conocer, estoy muy agradecido por ellas, y tengo que decirle ademas, que estoy seguro de que no soy el único de estar sorprendido por su vasta cultura en materia de Barcelona y, casi diría, de Barcelonismo. Ud cooce no ya los más clásicos �sin6 los menos clásicos; Ud, sabe quien es Sert, y Ud. sabe una cosa 9ue me ha dejado realmente sorprendido y que yo aprendí, no aqui, sino precisamente en Montevideo, Uruguay, ademas de Brasil, cuando allí estuve después de visitar Sao Paulo. Y es que en este mismo salón se decidió, como Ud. ha dicho muy bien, que el campeonato del mundo de fútbol tenía que celebrarse en Montevideo, en el Estadio del Centenario que para eso se comenzó a construir. Se empezó a construir para el campeonato mundial, que la FIFA decidió en este mismo salón en el año 1928, cuando fue mi sorpresa, amigo Havelange y amigo Vallarino, que estando en el palco del Estadio del Centenario y viendo jugar a los equipos de Montevideo, se me presentó una historia del Estadio y ví que aquel Estadio había nacido, conceptualmente, se entiende, en esta sala, en este salón. En este salón que alberga 700 años de historia, que se empezó a construir en 1920, a finales del s.XIII, que ha visto todo, que ha visto momentos de glória y también momentos más tristes de la historia de nuestro país, de nuestra ciudad , que como el Tinell, donde hemos estado inaugurando la exposición de medallas olímpicas, salón que vió la llegada de Cristóbal Colón en 1942 a la vuelta de su primer viaje americano, y que de alguna forma acreditó ya esta ciudad como una ciudad ligada fraternalmente a América como la historia posterior debía demostrar, se sabe que los lazos que unieron a Cataluña entera, a Barcelona con los paises latinoamericanos fueron creciendo sobretodo a partir del s.XVIII y que nos hermanaron intereses y también sentimientos comunes. Yo quiero ver también en este 500Aniversario que se celebrará en 1992, no sólo el momento del descubrimiento de America por os españoles; yo creo que hay algo mas allí, hay el momento del encuentro admirado también de aquellos antecesores nuestros con un mundo que no conocian y mas allá todavía, es un gesto olímpico, yo creo, que Cristóbal Colón fue a descubrir mundo sin saber exactamente adende iba a llegar, sabiendo lo que quería, llegar a los paises dende Marco Polo había estado, sin saber exactamente ni donde ni cómo, pero buscando nuevos horizontes en el mundo. Yo creo que este espíritu de aventura, de conquista, de curiosidad, de no quedarse atrás ante lo desconocido que demostró en aquellos momentos Cristóbal Colón y Castilla entera detrás de él patrocinando su empresa, nos tiene que, de alguna forma, recordar que hay precedentes muy positivos que hoy encara mejor que nadie, y , de esto estoy cada día mas convencido, el Movimiento Olimpico Internacional. Este Movimiento Olímpico representa hoy una oferta, y déjenme utilizar un símil económico, para una demanda que está insatisfecha. En el mundo hay una demanda hoy de fraternidad que desgraciadamente la situación política del mundo no permite satisfacer. Y que sin embargo el Movimiento Olimpico esta del modo indicando que es posible satisfacer, y cada cuatro años con su celebración de la Olimpiada correspondiente está llamando al atención poderosamente, la atención de miles de millones de ciudadanos de todo el mundo. ¿Por que?. ¿Por que no estan todas las ciudades pendientes de ese movimiento olímpico, de la celebración?. No sólo por los beneficios tecnológicos de infraestructura que se puedan conseguir entorno a esta gran celebración y que sin duda alguna, son paralelos a un esfuerzo importante que hay 9ue hacer. Yo creo que ahí detrás hay algo más, hay la condicion que he podido constatar personalmente, en los , gobernantes de todas las ciudades del mundo que estan detras de ese objetivo, para el 92 o para el 96 o para el 2000 o para el 2004, como me contaba �Que la ciudad de San Luis está invirtiendo ya 20 o 50 millones de pesetas, 250.000 dólares, en postular por la candidatura del 2004. ¿Qué significa esto?. Esto significa que los ciudadanos de todo el mundo, de todas las ciudades importantes y sensibles del mundo, se estan dando cuenta de que su ciudad les está pidiendo y que el Movimiento Olímpico está en condiciones de ofrecer, ni que sea durante la celebración del de los quince dias políticos. Sepa Ud. Sr. Havelange, que esta ciudad va a hacer honor al compromiso de competir con las demás ciudades a las que admiramos y respetamos enormemente por los juegos del 92. Sepa que además nuestra olimpiada cultural la tenemos pensada para que sea realmente una olimpiada, una celebración que va a durar cuatro años. y que Barcelona sera la animacion de Cataluña entera, desde Ampurias hasta el Ebro se van a volcar para hacer de esta olimpíada una celebración incomparable, en la que va a estar presente nuestro legado griego, nuestro legado romano, nuestro legado romántico v gótico por supuesto, nuestro renacimiento, nuestro barroco, nuestra pintura moderna, nuestro arte, nuestra musica, nuestro p asado, nuestra opera, todo va a estar presente Este es un pequeño país que alentado por el conjunto de ahí. . España, que esta indudablemente detras nuestro, lo sabemos, se va a volcar para hacer, no ya de los quince dias de celebración, sino de los cuatro años de Olimpiada, un auténtico acontecimiento cultural. • Es desde esta esperanza, desde la conciencia de que nuestro esfuerzo va a ser lo único que en definitiva nos acredite delante del escrutinio, sin duda alguna rigurosísimo del Comité Olímpico Internacional. Es desde esta esperanza que le damos las gracias más sentidas y más fraternales, porque sus palabras despiertan en nosotros un eco de algo que ya existía. La nostra petició és substanciada per un conjunt de raons sòlides que podríem sintetitzar en tres paraules: tradició, capacitat i voluntat unànime. Tradició, perquè Barcelona ha animal des de sempre el caliu del foc esportiu i de la flama olímpica. Barcelona ha demanat ser seu dels JJ 00 tres vegades des del 1920, i fou la primera ciutat que, fa cinc anys, manifestà el desig de postular els jocs de 1992. Capacitat, perquè Barcelona és a punt. Barcelona té la majoria d'instal .lacions construïdes, té la infrastructura urbana i humana necessària, té els recursos indispensables per assegurar el desenvolupament rigorós i amb èxit de la màxima trobada de l'esport mundial. Barcelona només necessita culminar i arrodonir els diversos projectes que ja avancen en l'actualitat i ... omplir de gent els recintes olímpics. Finalment, voluntat unànime, perquè la nostra ciutat ha sabut il.lusionar-se i viure en l'optimisme que genera el mateix projecte olímpic. Els ciutadans, les institucions, el món econòmic, la intel.lectualitat, els mitjans de comunicació, s'han apuntat a una proposta racional que s'adapta a les necessitats i ambicions d'una ciutat que mira al futur i irradia un optimisme condensat en dues paraules: «Ara, Barcelona». Experiència i anhels es fonen a Barcelona, en una solució d'entusiasme que només és possible en certes ciutats: només és possible en aquelles ciutats que, prou prestigioses per organitzar uns Jocs, són prou humils per saber-los viure intensament. AYUNTAMIENTO DE BARCELONA PRESIDENCIA Barcelona'92 es un sueño que se está plasmando con el esfuerzo de todos, en una atractiva y compleja realidad . Una etapa de ilusiones está cediendo ahora, al momento de las verdades. Y la verdad, la realidad, es el apoyo masivo de toda la sociedad española. Un apoyo que surgió de forma temprana y espontánea, un apoyo que hoy ya es absoluto, un apoyo que promete ser espectacular durante los Juegos de Verano de 1992. �3 AYUNTAMIENTO DE BARCELONA PRESIDENCIA gran verdad seguirá siendo la de las metas comunes, la de los objetivos globales, la de las aspiraciones compartidas. Toda la ciudadanía se volcó a favor de la Candidatura barcelonesa; el mundo del deporte, la iniciativa privada, los medios de comuni cación, técnicos y especialistas de todos los campos, las instituciones,... todos se aunaron en una voz unánime que fué precedida y culminada, desde el primer momento por VOS. �4. AYUNTAMIENTO DE BARCELONA PRESIDENCIA Quiero recordar, la reacción de VUESTRA MAJESTAD al conocer la designación de Barcelona. La energía y profundidad humana de vuestras palabras me emocionaron y me hicieron vibrar en los más hondo de mi persona. Era evidente que habíais hecho mucho más que cumplir con vuestro deber; habíais cumplido con vuestros sentimientos. Y ahora yo, en representación de toda una comunidad que reconoce vuestro sentir, tengo que deciros que también, en aquel momento, con vuestra alegría representasteis la de todos los españoles. �5. A cette occasion, on remarqua ce que l'on appelle le "style - Barcelone ", style technique et la qui conjugue la vibration humaine, la connaissance capaçi- té_ d' -ó^s1anisat on. La collaboration entre la f•1airie de Barcelone et le "Reial Automovil --.^:■•dinr-••—••: - Club de Catalunya ", ainsi que la chaleur et le soutien humain firent de ce jour l'une_ des fetes les plus inoubliables de notre ville. - 7 Deux ans plus tard, T.S.O. nous fait à nouveau confiance et, comme nous l'avait promis Gilbert abine, le Rallye passera unenouvelle fois par Barcelone. ^S 3 A cette occasion, n^on seulernent nous verrons défiler les véhicules - 4 1's mais, de plus, nous assisterons à l'étape éliminaire dans un circuit préparé à cet effet, dans une zone particulière Barcelone. Concretament ha estat objecte de seguiment i negociació amb la Generalitat, entre altres qüestions, la reglamentacióde: -Consells Esportius Escolars -Jocs Escolars - Consell de l'Esport de Catalunya (en la que `'" Enric Truñó representa a l'Ajuntament de Barcelona) En aquests moments les prioritats d'actuació de la Comissió són el Reglament dels Consells Esportius i el programa Multimedia promogut per la Generalitat d'educació física a les escoles a través de mitjans audiovisuals. En relació a la conferència de l'Alcalde, s'apunten les següents idees: a) La Constitució/ re stableix en l'article 43.3 que els poders públics fgmentarari l'educació física i l'esport. b) La Ley(del Deporte, aprovada e1 15 de octubre de 1990, així com la Llei de l'Esport de Catalunya de 1988, desenvolupen aquest principi constitucional i estableixen que les administracions públiques estimularan la promoció de l'esport i de les assoiacions esportives. c) A banda d'aquests mandats legislatius, la promoció d'esport es un tema que encaixa amb la sensibilitat de l'AlcaldeAue us parla. Aquesta sensibilitat s'alimenta especialment-.en: -l'assistencia als Dimecres Olímpics, que permet palpar com en l'actual moment l'esport a 1 escola és una realitat emergent. -Il.lusió de la gent quan inagurem una instal.lació esportiva, que forma part del pla d'Instalflacions de la ciutat. El camp de Les Corts, el pino donde "quedabas" al salir, las sillas con asiento de esparto o de mimbre, dónde meter el trasero entre mi padre y mi tío Gabriel. El problema era cuando se internaba Manchón, el extremo izquierdo: que no lo veías porque la grada de la tribuna no estaba bien calculada y todos tenían que ponerse de pie, sobre todo si el pase largo de Kubala era muy pegado a la banda. Mi equipo, el que me sé de memoria, es anterior a Kubala. Es: Velasco/Elías-Curta/Gonzalvo-Calvet-Gonzalvo/Basora-SeguerCésar-Florencio y Nicolau. Nuestro ídolo era César, antes de llegar Kubala. Nuestros amigos, Basora y, más tarde, Gonzalvo III. La jugada preferida: internada de Basora hasta el palo y centro atrás para la calva de César, que masacraba el gol. Todo esto quedó atrás con el Camp Nou. Allí no teníamos entrada, íbamos a general, por ejemplo, a ver al fabuloso Wolverhampton. Estábamos tan apretados que a uno se le ocurrió aquello de uQui pogués posar-se el cul a la butxaca!" Pero el campo mismo se convirtió en el primer espectáculo. Uegar tarde a los prolegómenos y el inicio era perderse lo mejor, como en las salidas de Fórmula 1 o del Grand Prix de motociclismo. Más tarde me di cuenta, en el barrio de la Mina, de los costes de aquello. (Creo que el Barca y Barcelona le deben como mínimo una explicación y un esfuerzo especial, a ese barrio). Antonio Franco es para mí un prototipo de ciudadano del Camp Nou. Nació en un grupo periodístico que pronto hizo del fútbol un componente cultural y no un vertedero de lágrimas aristocráticas. Leeremos su "Camp Nou" como si nos sentáramos en tribuna -o en el gol- antes de un gran partido. Espera que su Barça no falle Lluís Mascaró BARCELONA asan unos segundos de las 9.45 de la mañana. El President de la Generalitat, Pasqual Maragall, nos recibe en su despacho. A pesar del convulso momento político que está viviendo –más tarde presenta a los nuevos consellers que sustituyen a los cesados de ERC– se muestra afable y relajado. Le apasiona el fútbol y es un gran culé. Pide un café con leche para coger fuerzas antes de la larga jornada que le espera. Hoy viaja a París para vivir lo que espera sea un día histórico. Esta es su primera final de la Champions como President de la Generalitat. ¿Qué sensaciones tiene? Creo que será un partido de altísimo nivel. Y además un reto para el Barça al enfrentarse a un equipo de Inglaterra, cuna del fútbol. Pero espero que el conjunto blaugrana esté a la altura de las circunstancias. Como alcalde de Barcelona ya estuvo en Wembley’92 y en Ate- P nas’94. ¿Qué recuerdos guarda de aquellos dos partidos? En Londres vivimos una noche extraordinaria, con aquel gol de Koeman que nos ha dado, por ahora, la única Copa de Europa que tiene el Barça. En cambio, en Atenas, todo fue un desastre. Encajamos un 4-0 ante el Milan y sobre el campo yo creo que ni siquiera se vio al Barça. Me han dicho que en su familia existe una gran tradición futbolística. ¿Es cierto? Sí. Yo llegué a jugar hasta categoría júnior, pero tanto mi hermano Ernest como mis primos, Joan y de país que tenemos de ahora en adelante. Pero es cierto que la Champions es muy importante para la ciudad y para todos los barcelonistas. Todo el mundo está de acuerdo en que el Barça es ‘més que un club’. Cuando gana, se nota en la alegría de los ciudadanos. El otro día, tras conquistar la Liga, salieron a la calle 1.200.000 personas para celebrarlo... Sí. Estuvo muy bien esa pasión que se desató, pero no me gustó cómo acabó, por ejemplo, la fiesta de Canaletes. El Barça es el club más señor y tiene también la afición más señora, aunque siempre hay un grupo de vándalos que acaban convirtiendo una celebración deportiva en una batalla campal en la calle. Deben tomarse medidas para que no vuelvan a producirse estos incidentes. ¿Cómo ve al Barça esta temporada, usted que lo ha seguido a menudo? Sí que he ido a bastantes partidos y veo que tiene una columna vertebral muy importante y sólida. Valdés, Puyol, Edmílson, Xavi, Deco, Eto’o, Ronaldinho... De hecho, todos los jugadores han sido importantes. Una de las virtudes de este Barça es que no encuentras fallos. Cada jugador es creativo, no hay ninguno que sea puramente instrumental. Además, tiene más de un once titular y eso es muy importante para poder repartir minutos y mantener el nivel. Para mí, por ejemplo, Oleguer ha sido una de las sorpresas de la temporada porque se ha acabado imponiendo como un jugador imprescindible. ➔ “Una de las grandes virtudes de este Barça es que no le encuentras fallos. Es un gran equipo” Manuel, se dedicaron más tiempo. Mis primeros llegaron a ser campeones de España amateurs. El fútbol siempre nos ha gustado y nos sigue apasionando. Como alcalde de Barcelona, usted vivió el mayor éxito deportivo de la ciudad, la adjudicación de los Juegos Olímpicos de 1992. Ahora, como President de la Generalitat puede traer mañana la Champions a Catalunya. ¿Qué le hace más ilusión? Las dos cosas son muy importantes. Los Juegos Olímpicos marcaron un antes y un después. La verdad es que, en un mundo internacional, con una Catalunya que ya es europea, en una situación en la que las fronteras no existen, no tiene mucho sentido hablar de jugadores nacionales o jugadores extranjeros. Pero creo que este modelo que ha impuesto el Barça es el mejor. Que se combine el factor identitario de los futbolistas salidos de la cantera, que saben lo que es el club y lo que significa para el país, con grandes estrellas internacionales es, sin duda, el cóctel del éxito. SORPRENDENTE RONALDINHO En este sentido, Ronaldinho es el crack del equipo. El futbolista número uno del mundo. ¿Cómo ve usted al delantero brasileño del Barça? Es un jugador que no nos deja nunca de sorprender, que hace cosas inigualables, que le convierten en un referente para la afición. Aunque en los últimos dos o tres partidos, como al resto de los jugadores, me ha parecido que había tocado techo... tal vez por el cansancio acumulado a lo largo de toda la temporada. Pero para mí, lo más importante de Ronaldinho, es que no olvide que es un jugador más del equipo. Creo que ha entendido cuál es su papel en esta plantilla y lo asume con naturalidad y modestia. ¿Qué papel cree que ha tenido Rijkaard en el éxito de este Barça? Yo no sé cómo van las cosas en el vestuario, porque no estoy dentro, pero tengo la impresión de que pueZOLTAN ZCIBOR de convertirse en uno de los mejores entrenadores de la historia del Barça. Hasta que no se acabe su ciclo no se podrá hacer un balance definitivo, pero me da la impresión de que es el técnico ideal para el Barça. ¿Y qué opinión le merece Laporta como presidente? Su papel ha sido decisivo para que el Barça viviera esta nueva época de gloria. Su trabajo, y el de su equipo de colaboradores, está siendo excelente. Ha tenido la inteligencia de revolucionar el club de tal manera –tanto desde el ámbito deportivo, como el económico, el social y el institucional– que ha devuelto la alegría y la ilusión a todos los barcelonistas. ¿Cree que este Barça va a marcar un ciclo en la historia del fútbol? El único problema será mantener la curva ascendente porque el listón cada vez es más alto. El año pasado, la Liga. Este año, la Liga y esperemos que la Champions. ¿Y la próxima temporada? Mantenerse ya sería un gran éxito, pero superarse sería muy complicado. Yo creo que este es el próximo problema que van a tener los técnicos del Barça: saber motivar a los futbolistas de cara al futuro. Si usted pudiera dirigirse a los jugadores del Barça antes de empezar el partido, ¿qué les diría? Que jueguen con la máxima ambición posible. El Arsenal es un equipo difícil y el Barça no debe dejarse atrapar por el espíritu de lucha de los ingleses. Tienen que salir a ganar el partido con motivación. Finalmente, ¿cuál es su sueño para esta final de la Champions en París?
