Va ser el primer alcalde de Girona (1979-2002) escollit democràticament.
Membre del PSC (1981-2015), del que en va esdevenir un destacat dirigent.
Fou diputat al Parlament de Catalunya per aquesta formació (1984-2012) i candidat a la presidència el 1995.
El 2003 és nomenat Conseller de Política Territorial i Obres Públiques i portaveu del govern presidit per Pasqual Maragall. En el mandat presidencial de José Montilla va seguir exercint la mateixa cartera, fins a la finalització d’aquella legislatura el 2012.

Entrevista a Jordi Borja (Barcelona 1941). Geògraf i polític. Membre del PSUC des de 1960, fou diputat al Parlament de Catalunya de 1980 a 1984. Com a tinent d’alcalde de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona pel PSUC de 1983 a 1995 amb Pasqual Maragall d’alcalde, va ser un dels artífexs de la descentralització i organització de la ciutat en districtes. Va ser vicepresident executiu de l’Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona de 1987 a 1991.

Fou director del Servei de Projectes Urbans de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona (1981-1987), i director tècnic de l’Institut Municipal de Promoció Urbanística (IMPU, 1988-1994). Integrant del Holding Olímpic (1985-1993), col·laborant estretament amb l’acalde Maragall.
Arquitecte en Cap de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona (1999-2003).
Impulsor, conseller delegat i director de Barcelona Regional, S.A. (Agència Metropolitana de Desenvolupament Urbanístic i d’Infrastructures, 1994-2011).
Ha estat professor de l’ETSAB i de l’Accademia di Architettura, Università della Svizzera Italiana (Mendrisio, Suïssa).

Va ser Conseller en cap (2003-2004) en el govern Maragall i Vicepresident (2006-2010) del govern Montilla de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
Ha estat diputat al Parlament de Catalunya (1988-2010) per Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), partit en el que va ocupar els càrrecs de Secretari General (1996-2004) i President (2004-2008).

Entrevista a Josep Maria Bricall (Barcelona, 1936). Doctor en dret i en econòmiques. Catedràtic de la UIB i de la UB.
Entre 1977 i 1980 fou secretari general de la presidència, primer, i conseller de governació, després, del govern presidit per Josep Tarradellas.
Posteriorment de 1984 a 1986 va ser diputat al Parlament de Catalunya com a independent en la candidatura del PSC. Renuncià a l’escó el 1986 i poc després fou escollit rector de la UB, càrrec que ocupà fins 1994.
